Old town restaurant

Oil Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed with a certificate of authenticity.

This artwork depicts a narrow cobble stone street in the old part of Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, the city on the banks of the River Plate where I was born and lived for the first 23 years of my life. The old town is a Unesco Heritage Site and a tourist spot visited by thousands of tourists every year as it still conserves the old buildings of the time of the Spanish, Portuguese and English conquistadores. Many of the old buildings have been transformed into museums and others are restaurants with al fresco dinning. The church that can be seen in the background dates to the times of the Spanish Viceroy and it's among the oldest in the country.

I used mainly the palette knife to paint this artwork in order to add texture to the old buildings. The sides are painted black and it has a strong wire at the back so it can be hung framed or unframed.
