This artwork was inspired by a recent visit to Sunset Beach on Soldiers Point in Port Stephens. I tried to capture the stillness of the water and the quietness of the place at sunset. The trendy restaurant on the water and a marina can be seen in the background. The two old boats were there. A reminder of happy times spent on the water.
I started the painting with acrylics and then went on to oils, using the knife to create some heavy impasto on the waves, the boat and some parts of the sky.
