"Afternoon at Milk Beach"

Oil Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang
Milk Beach is a secluded beach in North Sydney. The view from the shore is stunning; with the Harbour Bridge in full view and Sydney skyline next to it. When I was there on a weekday afternoon the beach was unusually quiet. What a treat!
I started the painting applying thin layers of oil paint to create a sense of depth. Then, I followed with the palette knife to create the illusion of moving water and different layers of sand.
I think this painting reflects a feeling of a relaxed day at the beach when everybody else is at work and only some lucky ones are enjoying nature. The buyer will be reminded everyday of the beautiful and relaxed days of summer.
